A wintry scene as we move towards the close of the year. The short days can still be inspiring and envigorating with coast and countryside to enjoy.

Poem by Richard Maslen:
Cleo at the Great North Door

Cleo at the Great North Door

Quite suddenly
You were there.
The angel visible through the door,
The font in the middle distance,
The door open,
My eyes looking into the interior.

And then
Noticing your face
At the bottom of the photograph,
At the corner of the door.
Your angelic face
That had escaped my notice.

And there,
Quite suddenly,
Tears and the memory of you.

In memory of Cleo died 26 November 2001
